Shuhaida Md Noor

Shuhaida Md. Noor is an associate professor at the School of Communication, USM. She joined the School in 2009, where she taught courses in persuasive communication, including Consumer Psychology, Persuasive Theory, as well as Campaign Planning and Evaluation. She holds a BSc. in Commerce (Marketing and Management) from the University of Virginia (USA), and a Master of Arts from Universiti Sains Malaysia. She was awarded her PhD by the University of Sydney (Australia) in the field of Marketing, where she employed the experimental method to explore the impact of ‘self’ on consumer-based brand equity. Shuhaida continues to pursue her interest in psychology to explain various issues related to marketing communication and consumption, including consumer knowledge, perception, mental states, attitudes, emotions, and behaviour in relation to self-related reflections (e.g. brand identity, brand personality, heritage, and community). Recent years have witnessed Shuhaida busying herself in research pertaining to heritage tourism and local community participation, all the while remaining deeply embedded in the psychological perspective. She is currently building her expertise in the burgeoning area of behavioural economics, focusing on the phenomena of nudging in marketing.
